Curriculum
Rooted in the values of the disability justice movement, the ALP-NC content and learning space reflect a mutually respectful and culturally humble partnership between people with lived experience of I/DD and others who care. ALP-NC aims to develop sustainable leadership skills through a comprehensive, universally designed curriculum that includes historical perspectives, hands-on advocacy training, and community building, fostering a robust network of changemakers dedicated to mutual access, inclusivity, and disability justice.

StoryShare and Graduation
Session – A large group virtual meeting with all participants to learn and discuss content. The Program is made up of four (4) Sessions.
Learning Team Meeting – A virtual small group meeting that includes up to 5 Leader candidates and one Facilitator. The Program includes 3 Learning Team Meetings.
Program Goals
EMPOWERMENT AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:
Equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective leaders in their communities.
ADVOCACY SKILLS ENHANCEMENT:
Improve participants' capacity to advocate within the context of disability justice at local, state, and national levels by engaging in practices related to self, collective, and systems advocacy as well as story sharing.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
Increase the involvement of people with disabilities in community and policy-making processes.
NETWORK AND SUPPORT SYSTEM EXPANSION:
Cultivate a strong network of leader advocates who can support each other and engage in meaningful advocacy efforts.
DIVERSE, EQUITABLE, INCLUSIVE AND ACCESSIBLE PROGRAMMING:
Promote diversity, equity, inclusivity and accessibility in all program activities, materials, and curriculum content.
