The bus will depart at 2:00 PM from Porta Trapani. After the excursion, the bus will directly depart at 8:00 PM to take us to La Torre di Nubia Restaurant in Trapani, where the social dinner will take place
The excursion will take place at the Archaeological Park of Segesta, one of the most important ancient sites in western Sicily, located in a scenic hilly area overlooking the Gulf of Castellammare.
Segesta was an ancient city of the Elymians, an indigenous population of western Sicily, later strongly influenced by Greek culture. Its privileged position on Mount Barbaro reflects both its strategic importance and its close relationship with the surrounding landscape.
The site is best known for two major monuments:
The Doric Temple, built in the 5th century BC, is one of the best-preserved examples of Classical Greek architecture in Sicily. Although never completed, its structure remains remarkably intact and visually striking.
The Ancient Theatre, built in the Hellenistic period, is set on the upper slope of the mountain and offers spectacular views over the valley and the sea. It combines architectural design with a dramatic natural setting.
Today, Segesta is considered one of the most evocative archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, where history, architecture, and landscape come together.
Given the characteristics of the location,
we recommend wearing comfortable shoes during your stay in Erice.
