The Infrastructure Committee received 11 proposals, with 6 projects recommended for funding — totalling $296,000.
Congratulations to the successful funded projects for the 2025 Infrastructure Grant round:
Two fully stabilised mode-locked combs – University of Adelaide and University of South Australia (Science & Technology)
Tunable laser – University of Adelaide and University of South Australia (Microscopy & Spectroscopy)
Five Luceda IPKISS licences – Infrastructure Committee
5GHz system – University of Sydney (Science and Technology)
High-speed oscilloscope – RMIT University (Infrastructure Committee)
1.55μm refractive index camera – University of Adelaide and University of South Australia (Precision Sensing and Measurement)

Any COMBS member is eligible to apply for the Infrastructure Grant.
To be eligible, Infrastructure Proposals need to:
request infrastructure that will arrive in 2025.
be a maximum of $50K.
a) Create common infrastructure and capability across states (e.g. leverage technology know-how from one node to up-skill other nodes)
b) Leverage matching cash contributions (can be COMBS or non-COMBS funds)
c) Are designed to enable cross-node collaborative projects
d) Are aligned to our 2025 operational plans
e) Participate in MWP foundry runs for creating new microcomb sources
The Infrastructure Committee ranked their proposals and provided the COMBS Executive Committee with their recommendation of projects for approval on Friday 6 June 2025.
