How do we support the socio-emotional learning of our students given the current health and political conditions of the United States? Chiquita R.Toure, School Librarian at Eastmoor Academy will discuss specific ways to engage students and get them talking about challenging subject matters. As school librarians we are uniquely positioned to provide safe environments where our students’ voices can be heard and respected. As advocates of equity in education, we will discuss strategies to teach and share examples of agency and empowerment for students. Lastly, primary and secondary resources will be reviewed and shared to provide innovative ways of teaching difficult subjects, starting with slavery.

Best Practices for Creating Marc Records (for LMS only)
