Columbia County Environmental Management Council (EMC) members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors with one representative from each town. The EMC discusses environmental issues affecting the county and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors.
A Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) is a group within a town that does work affecting the environment within the town. Example Project: To prepare a natural resources inventory for the town.
A Climate Change Resolution is a resolution passed by a Town board recognizing that climate change is happening, that human activity is a contributor, and pledging to do what they can to try to combat it.
A Climate Smart Community (CSC) is a Town that has has taken the pledge to be a Climate Smart Community, becoming part of a network of New York communities engaged in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving climate resilience. (Http://www.dec.ny.gov/energy/50845.html)
