Our course catalog provides descriptions and lists pre-requisites for all the courses we offer at CEC Castle Rock. However, not all courses are offered every semester. We encourage students to read over the course descriptions in preparation for their advising appointment each semester. The course catalog can be found on the CEC Castle Rock website. Here's a direct link.
CEC has minimum graduation requirments (see link below) that include 20 High School credits (with minimums in various categories) PLUS a professional Certification OR an associate degree OR 60+ college credits. College Admissions requirements are sometimes higher than these minimum high school credit requirements, and your Advisor can share the HEAR (Higher Education Admissions Requirements) with you.
CEC uses Parchment for all of our official transcript requests. IMPORTANT! DO NOT SET UP A PARCHMENT ACCOUNT WITH CEC WITHOUT YOUR UNIQUE CODE! Using the code will enable you to download unofficial transcripts at any time. Without the code, you will not have access to unofficial transcripts. The code will be sent to your CEC student email during your first semester at CEC.
Click here for instructions on how to access Parchment and request transcripts. Official transcripts can only be sent directly to an institution. You cannot send official transcripts to yourself.
What happens if you fail a class? Failing a class or withdrawing from a college class initiates CEC's Academic Accountability Process. Click the link below to learn more about each step in the process: Alert, Probation, and Suspension. The process is a stair-step system. Students will progress further in the process for repeated failed grades or will step back a level if they have a successful semester. In other words, students won't jump from Alert to Suspension in one semester and if they are on Academic Suspension, they will need to have three successful semesters to be removed from the process completely.
Click here for details about the Academic Accountability Process.
Grade replacements can be used when a student fails a class but then repeats it for a passing grade.
The class must be the same class taken at the same institution.
Grade replacements cannot be provided if the class was passed the first time and the student is repeating the class for a better grade.
Grade replacements don't remove the record of the failed grade from your transcript. It just removes the weight of the failing grade from your overall GPA.
Complete this Grade Replacement form to request a grade replacement. See your advisor if you need assistance.
Students will want to set up a College Board account if they don't already have one. A student's College Board account will house their PSAT, SAT, and any AP scores they have. Students can also access the Big Future college planning tools. Make sure you don't already have an account established to avoid creating two different accounts. Important: When you fill out the information to create your account, for school name select Colorado Early Colleges Douglas County. DO NOT select CEC Castle Rock! CEC Castle Rock is part of Colorado Early Colleges Douglas County and we operate under one code for College Board.
Here's the link to set up a College Board account.
Students are automatically registered through CECCR to take the following College Board exams in the corresponding grades. There is no fee associated with this testing:
9th Grade-spring semester: PSAT/9
10th Grade-spring semester: PSAT/10
11th Grade-spring semester: SAT
There is an optional Fall testing each year which is the PSAT/NMSQT exam. This is primarily for 11th grade students who want to try to qualify to apply for the National Merit Scholarship. Students must register and pay for the PSAT/NMSQT exam through CECCR. CEC will announce registration for this exam through our weekly newsletter.
Many students want to take the SAT more than once. Additional testing outside of the spring testing in their 11th grade year must be arranged and paid for through College Board.
Being an active participant in your high school community can not only be rewarding but it can enhance your applications to college. Colleges want students who show involvement in their communities and are able to balance school work with extracurricular activities.
We have several active clubs at CEC Castle Rock we hope you will consider joining. This list may change each year as students form new clubs. If you are intersted in starting a new club, please contact our Director of Campus Culture, Mr. McClintock.
