Period 6 Evening:
Steps to Success:
Be a team player – be open to the ideas of others when devising your own drama pieces.
Set goals and targets for practical lessons in advance.
Be enthusiastic in lessons – ‘Have a go’!
You must attend all lessons and rehearsals to avoid letting others down in group assessment situations.
Be supportive of others’ performance work. You can learn a lot from evaluating the work of other people.
Be the leader – do not be afraid to initiate ideas. Listen to everyone’s ideas and select the best ones to try out.
Listen to the advice of your teacher and act upon it.
Think about the emotions of the character. Can you imagine how they feel?
Think about your voice: pitch, pace and volume.
Think about your body language, posture, facial expressions and gestures.

How is this course assessed?
3 units to assess - 2 coursework assignments and one externally set task.
What does each exam assess?
Component 1 - Exploring the Performing Arts
You explore three different performance styles, looking at:
Physical Theatre
Commedia dell’arte
Naturalism
Component 2 - Developing Skills and Techniques in the Performing Arts
Component 2 runs alongside Component 1
As well as exploring each style practically, you will also culminate a skills development portfolio which is predominantly written but will include video evidence of your performances.
Component 3
This component runs on its own. This will be explored through your second year of the course (year 11)
You will be given the opportunity to work as part of a group to contribute to a workshop performance in response to a given brief and stimulus.
