Licensing ArcGIS  Pro

The instructions that follow step you through the process of using the Named User licensing option when accessing ArcGIS Pro at Colby College.  This requires that you have an existing ArcGIS user account. If one was created for you for a course, you may need to first activate it. This step is shown next. If you already have an active ArcGIS account, you can skip to Step 2.

 Activating your ArcGIS account

If you do not yet have an active ArcGIS account, one will be created for you by your instructor. Once created, you will be in receipt of an email requiring that you activate your new account, so be sure to check your email inbox.

The email will provide you with a link to activate your account.  The link will bring up a web browser. If you are a Colby College student, you will see the following  option on the web page.

• Click on the link to create your account. 

If the activation is successful you should see the following page.

Your ArcGIS account should now be activated.

Licensing ArcGIS Pro with your ArcGIS profile

When you first fire up ArcGIS Pro, you will be presented with the following sign in page.

Option 1: If you have an ArcGIS account that was created in the Fall of 2023 or later, click on the Colby College button. You will then follow the Colleges dual factor authentication steps.

Option 2: If you have an ArcGIS account that was created prior to the Fall of 2023, (e.g. you may have had an account created in a different course that was not tied to your Colby College credentials),  expand the ArcGIS login option and type in your ArcGIS user name and password.

Once ArcGIS Pro is licensed, you should not need to sign in again on the PC you are currently working on.

Logging into ArcGIS Online with your ArcGIS profile

If you plan to use your account with https://www.arcgis.com/ using a recently created ArcGIS account (i.e. one tied to your Colby account), follow these steps to ensure that you are logging into ArcGIS Online using your Colby profile and not a public one.

• At this point, you will see the familiar Colby College log in screen. Use your Colby credentials to log in.
