The AI tools listed below have been approved for use at Colby. They include standalone applications supported by the College and built-in features within commonly used software. Access to each tool may vary by user role (faculty, staff, student).
AI tools offer differing levels of privacy and data security, and there are important considerations around information integrity to keep in mind.

🔺Protect confidential data. Entering non-public, medium- or high-risk data into publicly-available generative AI tools is prohibited. Medium-risk data must only be entered into AI tools that have been approved as indicated on this page. Data classification levels can be found in the Colby College Data Classification Policy.
🔺 Review content before publishing or sharing and be aware of phishing. AI generated content can be inaccurate, misleading, or fabricated. Be aware of what you share, who you share it with, and what is shared with you. Report any suspicious messages or content to support@colby.edu or informationsecurity@colby.edu.
🔺 Always follow the College’s institutional guidelines and consult with the Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence and ITS if you have questions or are unsure about the specific use of AI tools.
