After I left the Air Force I worked for the State of Tennessee Office of Information Resources as a systems programmer from 1989-1992. This is my fourth year as a teacher, but I have 38 years of technology experience.
Life: I am married to Teresa and have a son, Heath, and a daughter, Emily. Teresa teaches 4th grade at Colbert Heights Elementary School. Heath works for Tuscumbia Utilities in the Gas and Water Department. He is married to Lauren and they have three children: Dax, Addie Kate, and Annie. She is married to Andrew Nelson, and they have no childeren yet. Emily is a middle school math teacher in Russellville.
I am a member of the First Baptist Church of Colbert Heights where I play rhythm guitar in the praise band.
I love my family, my church, and I have a slight fondness for guitars.
I am in my 6th year of teaching Automotive Technology to High School students. I LOVE my school, the people (Family) I work with, and My Students. This has been the Most rewarding job of my life. I have truly been blessed.
My first 4 years teaching I was in Livingston (Near UWA), I felt I was somewhat successful there, averaging 3 students per year earning an ASE Certification maybe 2. However, last year I had 6 students earn 20 ASE certification between them and 1 student earned 2 Scholarships.
All of my seniors from class of “21” are gainfully employed. And It looks very promising for the future, now that I am able to offer “Dual Enrollment” College Credits to my future students. Thank You Northwest Shoals Community College!!
I had my own Business for 18+ years in White Bluff, Tennessee. At one point I had 15 employees helping me, we were quite successful. Unfortunately, my late wife developed some serious health problems, and I sold the business and moved down near Fayette, Alabama where our 2 daughters could help me with their mother.
Before I started my own business, the biggest employment was in the U.S Army. I served 8 years as a “13F20” = Field Artillery Forward Observer.

Education:
I graduated from Collinwood High School in 2014. I attended Freed-Hardeman University my freshman year on a basketball scholarship. After my first year I transferred to Columbia State Community College where I obtained my associates degree. I completed my education at Middle Tennessee State University in December 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education. I was awarded the Business Education Award of Merit in 2017 and 2018.
Experience: I started teaching at Colbert County January 7th of 2019. Even though this is my first teaching position, I have over 5 years of experience working with children and students of all ages. I have coached numerous summer basketball teams for the past 4 years. I worked at a boys home for at risk teens in Wayne County, TN for two years while I was in college. I have served as a counselor at multiple FCA camps since graduating high school.
Life:
I currently live in my hometown of Collinwood, TN. I come from a family of educators. My mother, uncle, and both of my older sisters teach at the high school level. I love all sports but my favorite is basketball. Most of my life has been spent in school or on a court/field either playing, or watching a family member. I love being outside, reading, working out, and drinking coffee.
I have always wanted to be an educator and I believe it is my purpose in life. I believe teachers have an invaluable opportunity to impact youth and that is why I became a teacher. I want to give my students every opportunity to achieve their goals. I also want to be a role model for my students and be a constant example of what it looks like to be a professional in the workplace. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to be a Colbert County Indian.
