Get to know Mrs. Hoggard

I have been in education for the past 17 years. I started with student teaching in second grade and during this time I was tutoring at STARS math and reading academy with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. When I first started teaching I worked with gifted and talented students in 3rd grade. I stayed in 3rd grade for the next school year and then moved to first. I worked with first grade for most of my teaching experience but also was working with 5th and 6th grade students as well. Then I spent 2 school years as a reading interventionist for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. Then I was a 4th/5th grade math and science master/mentor teacher. Last school year I had the privilege of being a fifth grade teacher at Cogito teaching all subjects. I have my bachelor's in elementary education, my masters in education administration and also am a reading recovery certified through Clemson University.

How would you describe your teaching style? Engaging, Interactive  and hands on

What do you enjoy most about working with kids?I love watching students grow and learn and the moment when it all makes sense to them.

How do you personalize your lessons for each student?I get to know my students, build a relationship and then focus on strengths to help them grow any areas of weakness.

Teaching is my heartbeat and passion and I love getting to know my students and setting up lifelong relationships. 

Mrs. Hoggard outside of school: 

When I am not pouring my heart and soul into the lives of others I love to spend time with family. I am happily married to my husband Steve and we have two dogs Pip and Libby. We often get to help with wildlife rehabilitation and have had the pleasure of raising hundreds of baby squirrels as well as two different raccoons. I love to be outdoors, and I love the beach and mountains equally. I love to read a good suspense book and enjoy a heartwarming and beautiful movie too. I love to laugh and the biggest cheerleader for anyone I meet.
