Coe-Brown Northwood Academy

Band Program

Excellence in Music, Excellence in People

Welcome to the Coe-Brown Northwood Academy Band Program. Our goal is to produce the finest musicians possible while creating an atmosphere that allows the student to grow into the best person they can be.  Joining the band program at Coe-Brown means being a part of a family that loves to learn and work hard. If you are interested in being a part of a great team this is the place for you.

In May of 2023 the CBNA Music Department travelled to Boston for our annual Spring Trip. Our students got to hear the Boston Pops Symphony Orhestra perform "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." It was a great evening getting to be with each other listening to awesome music!

In November of 2022 members of the CBNA Concert Band were selected for the All New England Band Festival in Plymouth State University. These students spent a day playing alongside students from all over New England rehearsing and preparing for an evening concert. Great job to Julia Tursi, Lillian Perry, Kalina Kasprzak, Megan Adams, Hannah Shortt, Emily Burnap, Colin Kane, Zalan Miko, and Bryden Mercier!

In April 2022 the CBNA Music Department had our Spring Trip at Six Flags New England! We had a great day riding roller coasters and performing. Our Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble both won 1st Place in their division with the Jazz Ensemble also winning Best Group Overall!

In February 2022 the CBNA Concert Band welcomed special guest conductor Mr. Terry White, a prolific composer, educator, and teacher from Maine to help us prepare for the NHMEA Large Group Festival! Following our performance on March 19th the CBNA Concert Band earned top honors with a "4" Rating!

Here is the video of our 2022 Music Department Spring Concert! This was our first live spring concert since 2019 and all of our ensembles enjoyed sharing their work to end the year on the right note!

One of our goals for the CBNA Music Department is to bring our students out to watch professional and high quality performances as much as possible. This is us in the Spring of 2019 at the Boston Ballet to watch a performance of Sergei Prokofiev's "Cinderella."

In March 2019 the CBNA Concert Band performed in the New Hampshire Music Educator's Large Group Festival for the first time. Our students worked hard to prepare for this performance and did a fine job. They performed for 3 top notch adjudicators and had a workshop afterwards with one of the clinicians. The students had a great time being able to hear from great ensembles from across the state and are looking forward to participating again in 2020!

Members of the CBNA Band Program attended the UNH Traditional Jazz Series Concert featuring Carl Allen and the Art of Elvin on Monday, September 10th. This was an unbelievable show and a great opportunity for our students to witness high caliber live jazz. Students had a chance to meet some of the musicians backstage after the show as well!

The CBNA Concert Band came together for our annual CBNA Band Welcome BBQ! This was a great day filled with sight reading music that will be performed throughout the year, fantastic food, and (highly) competitive basketball and Wiffle Ball. Thank you to all of the Band parents that volunteered their time and cooking skills to make our BBQ a wonderful time!
