The CBNA Concert Band is the foundation of our Band Program. This class is open to all students that possess the drive and determination to improve and make great music. We meet in weekly full band rehearsals, private lessons, and student run sectionals. Concert Band is offered as a College Preparatory course but also has an Honors option. Students taking Concert Band (Honors) must audition for either the Classical or Jazz New Hampshire Music Educators All State Festival in the fall semester and prepare for a Performance Jury in the spring semester.
During the 2023-24 school year our Band Program had many ups and downs. Although we had an amazing time at Universal Studios and many great memories throughout the year, this year will be remembered by the passing of our clarinetist, Madalyn Chadbourn. To see how we honored her passing please watch this video: https://www.wmur.com/article/nh-chronicle-a-song-for-madalyn/60746554
In October of 2022 Lyndsay Boysen, Coordinator of Music at Southern New Hampshire University and in demand clinician and conductor, visited the CBNA Concert Band to work with our students and help us prepare for our Winter Arts Festival on November 30th. Our students had a wonderful time learning from not only an excellent educator but a super fun conductor!
The CBNA Concert Band participated in this year's 2023 NHMEA Large Group Festival and earned a "4" Rating! Our ensemble performed at a high level and had the chance to work with the amazing Dr. John Hart from Keene State College for a clinic afterwards.
The Concert Band is pictured here from our recording session of the Winter Arts Festival back on November 5th 2020. Our students at this point had only rehearsed a few times as a whole group and had to get comfortable playing far apart from each other. This was a great afternoon of music making and a welcome reminder of what being in Band is all about!
In October 2019 some of our students attended a concert performed by the UNH Wind Symphony. This was a great performance and included a premier of conductor Dr. Andrew Boysen Jr.'s Symphony No. 10.
