Summary Presentation of an Article
Your group will present a summary of one of the geography-related articles below.
Geo-Related Articles
Presentation Expectations - 1.5 Minute minimum; 3 Minutes Max
Create a slides show (no more than 3 slides).
No words, sentences, or paragraphs; images only (max of 3 images). You pick the images. (2 Pts)
Exception to #2 - opening slide should state the article name, date, and author. (1 Pt)
Identify the main idea of the article. (2 Pts)
Summarize the supporting details in your own words. (3 Pts)
Inform on how geography is involved. (2 Pts)
Creativity in the slideshow and/or presentation. (2 Pts)
Presentation skills - facing audience, using clear voice, good body language, teamwork, etc. (3 pts)
Hints to breaking down an article for summarizing: (use the sheet assigned in Google Classroom).
Look to the Introduction Paragraph for the title, name of author(s), and thesis statement (main idea).
Look to the Body Paragraphs for supporting ideas.
Look to the Concluding Paragraph for more summary of the main idea.
Look up terms (dictionary, encyclopedia, etc) you are not familiar with!
15 Points Possible
(1 Point) Express article name, author(s), and date of article.
(5 Points) Present a summary of the article in your own words with related details (#4 & #5 above).
(2 Points) Three or less images that relate well with the article.
(2 Points) Inform on how geography is related.
