Gifted and Talented at Cheyenne Mountain Elementary:

Students meet with the Gifted and Talented Learning Interventionist based on their area(s) of qualification (i.e. math or reading) in small groups depending on grade level.  In addition to the content area Talent Development, students also partake in activities that address the unique needs of gifted learners in the social/emotional area.

Below are just a few of the various resources used to enrich the curriculum for gifted students in the classroom along with in small groups.

-AeroStem camp (Ages 14-18) - AeroStem camp provides a fun way for teens to discover where a career in Aviation can take them.

-Alexa Cafe Tech for Girls (Ages 10-15) - Inspired by iD Tech co-founder Alexa Ingram-Cauchi, our all-girls program blends tech, entrepreneurship, and social impact in a fresh, café-like setting. Big ideas come to life amidst moon chairs and stylish decor. Whether you want to code an app for charity, design a mobile game, or discover AI, you'll collaborate with new friends and create a project you're passionate about. Camps are held at the University of Denver.

-Art Garage (Ages 3-12) - The Art Garage offers high-quality art education classes, workshops and summer classes taught by local practicing artists for kids, teens and adults.  Students are able to explore creative art materials, learn and demonstrate art techniques and design original artwork. Students learn fundamental art elements, art vocabulary, artistic styles, famous artists and more.

-Arts Hub (Grades K-12) - From art and dance to computer programming, we offer opportunities for kids to have fun and learn. Programs include arts, theater, entrepreneurs, fairy camp, canvas & painting, clay, bugs & nature art camp, sky’s the limit, slumber party art camp, coding with Kids, incrediflix camps, Playwell Tek, dance and more.

-ArtSpark (Ages 3-15) - Art, photography, fashion design, painting, drawing, mixed media, fiber art, architecture, sewing and adult/child playgroups for ages 1-6. Kids will problem-solve, use critical thinking skills, collaborate, experiment, invent, and be exposed to new artists, materials, and processes for inspiration. 

-Bird Conservatory of the Rockies (Ages 4-17) - All camps are about getting kids outside to have fun and explore nature while making friends, developing leadership skills and gaining insights into their relationships with themselves, others and the world around them. Camp content and activities are designed in a progression to introduce young children to the outdoors and build their skills over time. Day and overnight camps and teen leadership program. 

-Camp DI (grades 3-8) - DI Colorado is hosting a LIVE summer camp (our first ever!). The week will be a true-to-DI experience with campers solving a week-long challenge while learning storytelling, staging, prop building and much, much more. Whether they are planning on joining a DI team in the fall or not, the skills they learn this week will enhvance all their other activities.

-Camp Invention (Grades K-12) - Inspires girls and boys to think BIG and imagine how they can change the world for the better one day! This one-of-a-kind weeklong experience connects science, technology, engineering and math through fun hands-on activities. The program allows students to learn about creative problem solving (and so much more!) in teams grouped by age.  There is also a Counselor-in-Training program for middle school, high school and internships for college students. 

-Center for Bright Kids (Ages 8-17) - Residential summer programs for high-ability, high interest students offering a wide variety of subjects. Classes are held at the University of Colorado in Boulder

-Chess Academy of Denver (Ages 6-18) - Participants will be divided into similar ability groups (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and age groups for sessions focusing on all aspects of the game including scorekeeping and chess etiquette. Students will compete in mini tournaments for trophies and as well as play in a simultaneous exhibition against an instructor.

-Cleverlike (Ages 8-17) - Technology summer camps in Parker and Highlands Ranch. Cleverlike is dedicated to creating rich technology experiences and education for your young engineer. Summer camp programs are designed to give curious minds exposure, guidance and experience on multiple types of technology.

-CodeSpire (Ages 8-16) - If you’re ready to accelerate your child’s computer coding literacy, check CodeSpire’s full offering of after-school, weekend, and summer coding camps and coursework. We believe learning computer coding cannot only be fun, but a worthwhile investment in your child’s future. Prepare them for the science and coding jobs of the future through robotics, games, apps and more.


-Coding with Kids (Ages 5-18) - A place for coders to unleash their creativity and take the next step on the Coder's Ladder. Tech-savvy instructors will guide small groups of campers as they unleash their creativity to build games, interactive stories, websites, programmable circuits, and more. Campers will receive personalized instruction and collaborate with new friends. After camp, kids will be able to share projects with family and friends and continue development through online access.

-Colorado School of Mines STEM camps (Grades 3-10) - These camps encourage children to be innovative and use creative problem-solving by engaging them in fun, hands-on activities.  

-Davidson Institute (Ages 13-16) - Davidson THINK Summer Institute is a three-week-residential program for exceptionally gifted students. Located on the -University of Nevada, Reno, THINK offers students the opportunity to take two college courses taught by university faculty for college credit. 

-Dinosaur Ridge (Ages 6-13) - Do you have a dinosaur or rock enthusiast at home? Would they like to explore over 300 dinosaur footprints and dozens of other fossils from Colorado this summer? Or would they rather identify, collect, and label rocks and minerals for their collections while learning how -Colorado was built layer by layer? Learn about Colorado’s history and prehistory. 

-Engineering for Kids (Ages 7-12) - Each summer camp offers hands-on learning, activity-based lessons, and plenty of fun tech gadgets. Choose from programming camps, technology (or tech) camps, robotics camps and engineering camps.

​-Fusion Academy (Grades 6-12) - Fusion offers traditional core classes taught in a non-traditional way: one-to-one and personalized. Electives include art, music, tech, and yoga for students to stay engaged and explore new creative passions. Also offering classes for credit and tutoring for students to fill COVID-19 learning loss gaps, recover failed credits, or get ahead in a tough subject.

-Girls, Inc. Eureka! (Grades 7-12 ) - An intensive, five-year STEM-based program that builds girls’ confidence and skills through hands-on opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Utilizing a “whole girl” approach, the program also incorporates sports and physical fitness, personal development, and college and career readiness.

-Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (Grades 2-12) - Residential summer programs around the country in all areas of interest. CTY's gifted and talented summer programs offer bright students the opportunity to engage in challenging academic work in the company of peers who share their exceptional abilities and love of learning. 

-Junior Achievement (Grades 9-12) - Students earn 1.5 college credit hours through University of Colorado-Denver while learning what it takes to be a true entrepreneur. They’ll hear from some of the most successful entrepreneurs and business leaders from across the state as they consider a path for their future. The week culminates with a competition where one team is crowned the JA Titan of Business.
