Grading Policy

Marking Period Grading Breakdown

Tests - 40% (may include tests, computer assessments, and large projects)

Labs/Homework/Projects/Classwork/Groupwork - 60%

Class participation and effort are very important in science and count towards your grade!

A student's "FINAL" grade for the year is composed of each semester, 22.5% x 4 plus 10% for the final examination = 100%.

Homework is intended to be an extension of what we concentrate on in the classroom. Most homework in Grade 6 science is to study!

It is recommended to find a quiet, distraction free place for students to do their homework and/or read. The less distractions, the better.

Try to set up a scheduled time each night for your child to complete his or her homework.

-10 points will be subtracted each day from homework and/or projects that are past due. After 5 days, the grade becomes a 0.
