K-2 students are advised to continue reading to earn their minutes for our school wide "Get in the Game" Reading Challenge!
You may read non-fiction Social Studies related books at home, through SORA, and some grade levels have assigned non-fiction books on Social Studies topics through your child's Reading A-Z account. Some students can also choose books and topics they are interested in on Raz Kids (Reading A-Z), so you can choose books on Social Studies topics. These would be great ways to continue Social Studies learning. Periodically, as I continue to plan, I will incorporate additional activities for K-2 students to work on in the "Weekly Updates" tab above. Also, click the "Additional Learning Resources" tab above for some great interactive games, sites, and activities!
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students can access Social Studies assignments via my Google Classroom classes.
Students will log into their ncedcloud accounts and go to their Classroom and find the class that has already been asssigned to them. We set-up or Google Classroom classes already in most of my 3-5 Social Studies classes.
** If 3-5 students have not yet joined one of the classes listed below they will need to do the following :
Go to Google Classroom (You may need to go through the MES website and click students and enter your studentID@cms.k12.nc.us and password or if you are already set up just log - in and go straight to Google Classroom
Click on the " + Join Class" link at the top of the page
Add the corresponding code for your grade level / class and click the "Join" button
You will automatically be added to the class and be able to view assignments posted
