BEHAVIOR AND EXPECTATIONS
Rules during Zoom classes
Organize a quiet space for your child away from distractions (such as TV, siblings,...)
Arrive on time.
Turn off your microphone except when you speak.
Be ready to work with your Chromebook on a table.
Be ready with your material: sharpened pencils, the notebook for the subject presented in Zoom, textbooks (science or Envision) if it applies, agenda.
Activate your camera. I need to see you (unless your parents contact me) at all times.
Make sure that when you enter the virtual room I can recognize your name. I will remove names that I don't recognize.
Be attentive.
Be an active learner: ask questions, raise your hand virtually.

REMOTE LEARNING GUIDELINES
1. Attendance will be recorded daily in PowerSchool.
a. Students must attend each class per the class schedule and actively participate and engage. This includes completing and submitting all assignments, discussions, assessments.
b. The WLA Admin/Leadership Team will monitor student the Student Activity Dashboard in order to identify students who have not engaged with the Canvas learning platform and the learning activities for five or more days.
2. SEL (Social Emotional Learning): The Student Services Support Team (Counselors and psychologist) are available for academic and emotional support.
3. Instruction: Canvas will be the required learning and instructional platform for all grade levels.
a. Live teaching (synchronous) and independent (asynchronous) learning will occur each day.
b. Assignments
i. Teachers will provide assignments for students on a daily basis within each instructional block. Assignments may consist of but are not limited to assigned readings, notes, written prompts, streaming video content, project-based assignments, student collaboration and response journals across discussion boards.
ii. Assignments are weighted according to CMS guidelines across our grade levels (K-8).
c. Assessments
i. Formal and informal assessments will take place within the instructional block. The assessments will occur as close to the delivery of the instruction as possible to ensure that students have grown in their knowledge and comprehend the topic. This can include, but is not limited to open-ended responses, multiple choice, project-based tasks and checks for understanding.
ii. Assessments will be weighted according to CMS guidelines for the Gr. levels ES/MS.
4. Grading: Assignments will be graded as informal or formal with numeric grading appropriate for the grade level.
a. Grading will follow district guidelines.
b. Grades are weighted 40% for formal and 60% for informal.
*Note: There are more rigorous expectations for remote learning in the 2020-21 school year. These expectations do not mirror or resemble expectations as Spring 2020 remote learning.
Classroom Management/Discipline
There is zero tolerance for misbehavior. In order to guarantee an optimal learning environment, the following classroom management plan has been established.
Expectations
1. Show respect for yourself and others at all times.
2. Follow directions the first time.
3. Remain in the assigned area. Let the teacher know where you are at all times.
4. Keep hands, feet and other objects to yourself.
5. Show respect for school property and the property of others.
6. Good sportsmanship will be exhibited during all games and activities.
Office referrals will be issued after major incidents (such as fighting, cursing, showing a lack of respect toward an adult,...).
