In North Carolina during the COVID-19 crisis, parents who need assistance with free meal sites can text FOODNC to 877-877 or COMIDA to 877-877 (Spanish), to find nearby drive-thru and pick-up locations for meals. The resources have been set up by children ages 18 and younger (including preschool), who normally rely on reduced-price meals.

The CMS Library has expanded their WiFi so that families can access Internet from the parking lots in their cars.

Check out Ebooks online. If you don't have a library card, your student id can work!

No fines will accrue for items due while the Library is closed as checkout and return dates will extend until the Library re-opens.

Public school employees may request funds for items such as eyeglasses, school supplies, clothing/shoes, some medications, critical dental services, hearing devices, etc. for children in need. The referral must come from a school employee (teacher, counselor, nurse etc.)

  • Common Wealth Charlotte has received federal COVID 19 funds to issue zero interest loans to families in financial need.

    • The easiest way for a client to access and fill out a loan application is to text “FINANCES” to 474747. They can also submit a message via the following Common Wealth Charlotte webpage indicating an interest in a loan: https://www.commonwealthcharlotte.org/contact

NC 2-1-1 can refer callers to the organizations in their local community best equipped to address their specific health and human services needs including food, shelter, energy assistance, housing, parenting resources, health care, employment, substance abuse treatment, as well as specific resources for older adults and for persons with disabilities, and much more. Simply dial 2-1-1 or TTY 888-892-1162 for assistance.
