9th Grade Information
Students are encouraged to:
Meet with their counselor to begin discussing future goals and plans. Appointments can be scheduled by clicking on the "Meet your counselor" tab and completing the meeting request google form.
Start researching colleges early. Consider factors such as college type (public/private, large/small), location, and academic programs offered. Note: Freshmen are not allowed to meet with college representatives visiting campus. This opportunity begins in the spring of their sophomore year.
Enroll in challenging courses. Course registration begins before the December break. Look out for updates and information on ParentSquare, the Olympic website, email, and other official social media platforms.
Get involved in extracurricular activities, both on and off campus. A great resource to explore options is CFNC.org.
Track and complete community volunteer hours. Volunteering not only helps others, but also strengthens college and job applications.
Consider part-time employment. While this is a family decision, work experience is viewed positively by colleges and employers.
Build strong relationships with teachers. These connections can lead to valuable recommendations for college applications.
Understand GPA, class rank, and graduation requirements..

Promotion requirements:
To be promoted to 10th grade the following must be completed:
A student must earn six (6) credits during 9th grade. Credits may be earned in any courses. High School Credits earned during middle school do NOT count towards the credits needed to be promoted !
Freshman students will receive their first guidance lesson of the year, detailing how to navigate their first year of high school. Click on the video to watch the presentation and learn the key(s) to having a successful freshman year.
