Hello,
My name is Carrie Parkey. I am very excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher. I myself was a former student in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. I attended Beverly Woods Elementary, Carmel Middle, and graduated from South Mecklenburg High. My mother was also a teacher at South Mecklenburg High school which Mrs. Phelan was one of her former students years ago! From South Mecklenburg High I attended Appalachain State College where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education K-6. After graduation I ended up teaching in Cabarrus County Schools for twenty years and fourteen years at Sharon Elementary. Thirty of those years I taught kindergarten, which is my passion. This will be my fifteenth year at Sharon Elementary teaching kindergarten. I love working with this age group because it is so amazing to see how much they learn and grow.
I live in the Matthews area with my husband and our sixteen year old son, Benjamin. He will be a 11th grader this year in high school. We also have adopted a rescue dog that is part Lab and Beagle. He is ten years old and named Dixon. In my free time I love to spend family time walking our dog Dixon at the different parks, going to the movies, or traveling to the beach or mountains.
I believe that every child has the ability to learn. I'm devoted to challenging each student to reach his or her individual potential and succeed in kindergarten. I'm proud to be part of the teaching staff at Sharon Elementary. I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
Cordially,
Carrie Parkey
