1. Come prepared to learn each and every day. This means coming to class with a pencil, agenda, required notebook/materials, and homework if assigned.
2. Do your BEST and FORGET the rest! Always try even if you think you can't at least you tried...best lesson is to learn from mistakes.
3. Check your grades on PowerSchool at least once a week. Take charge of your learning!

Homework is practice. It is not expected to be perfect.

Homework Policy
1 - If the student is out 1 day, the student will get the homework and missing class assignments the following day.
2 - If the student is out for >1 day, the student will get the homework and missing class assignments once the student returns. The teacher will need at least 24 hours to prepare the packet. The 24 hour preparation period begins when the student returns to school. Teachers often cannot assign homework until they have taught the lessons.
3 - If the parent knows in advance of the absence, they should request homework and missing class work after they return, for the reason stated above.
4 - Parents should request homework and missing class assignments via email. Parents without email access may request the make-up work by a letter when the student returns, or by calling the school and leaving a message for the teacher.
5 - The teacher will put together a homework packet and leave it in the front office. The packet will be clearly marked with the student’s name.
6 - Parents will pick up the homework packets in the front office
Attendance
CMS has implemented a new procedure for parents who wish to apply for an excused absence in observance of their religious holiday. Parents must complete a form online to use when requesting excused time away from school. The following is the link to the form. The form must be submitted to the school at least two weeks prior to the absence for approval.
When it is necessary for a student to make up written work missed, the parent/student must assume the responsibility for contacting the individual teachers immediately about making up the work. Arrangements must be made no later than five school days after the student returns to school.
CMS Attendance Policy
We want you in our school every day. If a student is absent, parents should provide a written explanation for the absence. If a parent’s note is not received within 5 days of returning to school, your absence will be considered unexcused.
The following absences are considered to be EXCUSED:
Illness or Injury: When the absence results from illness or injury which prevents the student from being physically able to attend school.
Quarantine: When isolation of the student is ordered by A local health officer or State Board of Health.
Death in the Immediate Family: When the absence results from the death of a member of the immediate family of the student. For the purpose of this regulation, the immediate family of a student includes, but is not necessarily limited to,grandparents, parents, brothers, and sisters.
Medical or Dental Appointments: When the absence results from a medical or dental appointment of a student.
Court or Administrative Proceedings: When the absence results from the attendance of a student at the proceedings of a court or an administrative tribunal if the student is a party to the action or under subpoena as a witness. The Local Board of Education can be considered an administrative tribunal.
Religious Observance: Those major religious holidays that have been identified by the CMS. Contact your school attendance counselor with any questions you may have regarding these holidays (Ms. Alven, Ms. Powell, or Ms. Williams).
All other absences or pre-planned absences are considered UNEXCUSED.
