On or near your child's birthday, you may send in a treat for the whole class if you wish. This is not required. I will pass out the treat during lunch. Please notify me at least 2 days ahead of time. Instead of food, non food treats like pencils or erasers are great birthday treats. Please only send in ONE treat/nothing elaborate. Nothing homemade is allowed. All food must be store bought with ingredients on the wrapper. Thank you for your cooperation!
We do not have family birthday parties in school.
***Invitations to outside birthday parties will not be passed out to members of the class unless there is an invitation for everyone. I do not send invites through email.
Thank you for your understanding.
Snack:
We will have a snack either right before or after connect time before we go home. We will do our very best to have snack each day during this time.
**Please send in one reasonable snack that can be eaten quickly with fingers and separate from lunch.
** Please do not put snack in the lunch box, students sometimes get confused about which item is their snack.
** Send snack in an airtight container or bag. Ants love snacks too!
**We encourage our students to bring in healthy choices. Cakes, cookies, chips and candy are discouraged during this snack time.
**Snacks cannot be shared and will not be provided by the classroom teacher.
Here are some suggestions for snacks.
Fresh Fruits (Apple Slices, Grapes)
Fresh Vegetables (Carrot Sticks, Celery)
Popcorn
Raisins, Craisins
Cheez-its
Goldfish
Cheese
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep snack time easy and healthier!
If your child needs a transportation change for a day or so, please send me a note in your child's agenda and ask them to show it to me. This will insure that they get home the way you planned. Per Ms. Dowdy, please do not email me about transportation during the day as I can’t guarantee I will be able to check my email in time and if there is a sub, they will not get the information. If there is an emergency change during the school day, please contact the school office and they can handle letting me know. Signing your student up for an after school club taking place on our campus is considered a transportation change. Parents must notify my if your student has been enrolled in a club.
If you plan an early dismissal for your student, please let me know ahead of time by sending a note in the agenda with the time your child is leaving. I can have your student ready to go by the planned time. If they are at lunch or in connect during the planned time, they can take their book bag with them. This alleviates classroom disruption and also someone having to leave the office to find us. In most circumstances, the school does not allow early dismissal after 3:00. Please try to limit your "Leave Early" times. There is a google form outside the school doors you will need to scan and fill out prior to entering the building.
It is very important for your child to attend school daily since our lessons involve active participation. However, when your child is sick or has a doctor’s appointment please send an email which will be forwarded to the office. **Please make sure your student arrives on time. Students may arrive starting at 8:15 and the announcements will come on at 8:40. Students should be unpacked and in their seats by the time the announcements come on at 8:40. They are marked tardy if they are not in the classroom by 8:45. Please drop them off in enough time to get to the classroom. Typically, scheduled trips during the school year are considered unexcused absences and I do not send work for vacations. These add up quickly.
You must be a CMS approve volunteer to be on campus to eat lunch with your student. When you come, please sit at the designated tables for parents and students. Parents may not sit with other students and students may not bring a friend.
