*Meetings will start at 2:20 & the clinic will be 2:45-3:45.  Dancers will learn a short combo & review skills that will be included in auditions. The interest meetings/clinics are optional and highly recommended!

GENERAL INFORMATION
      THE MYERS PARK DANCE TEAM (MPDT) is a performance focused extracurricular dance team under the MPHS Dance Program and Performing Arts Department.   The team provides intermediate to advanced MPHS dancers with an after-school opportunity to strengthen hip hop, jazz and/or pom dance technique as well as performance quality.  These experiences provide a space for dancers to continue to build leadership, artistry, collaborative skills & help prep for college level dance teams.  Members will perform upbeat routines at on & off campus events such as dance program performances, halftime of home varsity basketball games, pep rallies and other off/on campus events.   Each team will perform 4 to 5 times.  Dancers that would like to perform more are encouraged to audition for both dance teams.

This year there will be two Dance Teams and students can audition for one or both of the teams.  The Hip Hop Team (late September to mid December) will focus on hip hop based routines and the Jazz/Pom Team (January, February and the 1st two weeks in May) will focus on Jazz and Pom based routines. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:45-4:15 with 1 Saturday rehearsal for each team.  The Hip Hop Team auditions will be Thurs, 9/25 & Fri, 9/26 2:30-5. The Jazz/Pom Team auditions will be Tues, 12/16 & Wed, 12/17 2:30-5. Students must attend both days of auditions.   

Both teams will be coached by Mrs. Tarlton and select team members will assist in different aspects of rehearsal and routine prep.  Routines are choreographed by Coach Tarlton, select team members and guest choreographers. Mrs. Tarlton has been a part of MPHS since 2003, this will be her 18th year as the dance teacher at MPHS and she has over 24 years of dance teaching/coaching experience.
