Students should come to class prepared to learn each day. A minimum of 30 minutes per night of study time is required for success in Honors Biology. There will be a quiz each day on material that was previously covered. These quizzes are designed to encourage students to keep up with the material, rather than to catch up prior to test day.
Students will follow all school rules and CMS rules according to the Students Rights and Responsibilities handbook. The classroom rule “Do not interfere with my teaching or others’ learning,” as well as safety procedures will be enforced.
Students will not be allowed to eat, drink, or sleep in class. Electronic devices are to be used in class for academic purposes only. If a student is not using the device appropriately, it will be confiscated. If a student refuses to relinquish an electronic device a security associate or an administrator will be contacted. If there are any discipline issues with your child the plan of action is as follows:
1. Warning and/or parent contact
2. Lunch detention with me
3. Referral to Office
Students will adhere to the school tardy policy. Students who miss more than 10 days per class for any reason will receive a grade of “F” for the semester unless the CMS recovery plan is followed.
Formal = 70% of your grade.
- Includes formal exams, other types of assessments that will be labeled as such
Informal = 30% of your grade
- Includes classwork, quizzes, homework and other assignments.
Students are responsible for finding out what they have missed by checking the assignments on the Honors Biology OR AP Biology link on this page. All assignments are also posted on the Google Calendar. Most items can be accessed using the links on the assignment sheet. In the event that we do not have an electronic version, the assignments will be located on the bookcase in my room.
