PARKING VIOLATIONS / FINES (not all-inclusive)
Transportation is provided for CMS students, therefore student parking is a privilege granted by the school administration. The following acknowledgment serves to document that both parent(s) and student have read, understand, and agree to abide by all Independence High School’s rules and guidelines as detailed in the Independence Parking Policy. Infractions of these rules will result in a $5 fine and/or loss of parking privileges for the remainder of the school year. Please read and understand, parking is a privilege, not a right. There will be special attention to student drivers that are tardy/late to school. TARDY/LATE DRIVERS WILL LOSE PARKING PRIVILEGES. STUDENT DRIVERS WILL THEN NEED TO RIDE THE SCHOOL BUS OR FIND AN ALTERNATE WAY TO GET TO SCHOOL ON TIME. THE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR GETTING A SCHOOL BUS RIDE IS NOT AN OVERNIGHT PROCESS, PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. Additional consequences may be invoked by parking control or an administrator if deemed appropriate.
The Fine is $5.00 and this is NOT AN ALL-INCLUSIVE LIST. Pay the fine at the link listed
Below is a sample list of parking/driving infractions:
- Parking in a No Parking Zone
- Parking in Teachers, School Bus Drivers areas, Sub, or Visitors spaces (may lose future parking privilege)
- Not parking in assigned space
- Taking up more than your assigned space
- Failure to display a valid permit
- Falsifying or forging a permit (will lose future parking privileges)
- Unsafe driving practices (may lose future parking privileges)
- Not following the traffic pattern or traffic flow in the morning or afternoon
*Students that commit a 2nd violation (any infraction), their vehicle will be booted ($5.00 fine). Students may lose parking privileges.
*Students that commit the 3rd violation, their vehicle may be towed at the owner’s expense and lose their parking privileges.
Failure to pay parking fines will result in the loss of your current and/or future parking privileges.
