Parking Permit Disclaimer
All drivers and passengers must adhere to the CMS COVID-19 safety requirements mandated by CMS and Independence High School.
Parents & Students: Please read and understand that parking on campus is a privilege, not a right.
Transportation is provided for CMS students; therefore, student parking is a privilege granted by the school administration. By obtaining a parking permit, both the parent(s) and student acknowledge having read, understood and agreed to abide by all rules and guidelines of Independence High School as detailed in the Independence Parking Policy.
Tardiness or lateness will not be tolerated. You will be given your first warning when you receive your parking pass. After your first tardy or late arrival, a second verbal warning will be given. Your parents will be contacted upon your second tardy or late arrival, and the teacher will document this as a minor incident in the Educator’s Handbook. A one-day suspension of parking privileges will be enforced if a second tardy occurs within the same week. Upon the third infraction of tardiness or lateness, your parking privileges will be suspended for one week.
Further infractions will result in progressively longer suspensions. Violations of school parking rules will result in a $5 fine and/or the loss of parking privileges ranging from one day to the remainder of the school year. If deemed appropriate, parking control or an administrator may impose additional consequences.

Please refer to the Parking Tardy Policy and the Parking Tardy Violation/Notification Letter for further details.
When a vehicle other than the one listed on the application is driven to school, the student must obtain a temporary parking permit or register in advance with the AFJROTC Mobile (MC219). Temporary permits will be issued only to students with an existing parking permit who need to drive an alternate vehicle on a short-term basis (up to five days for maintenance). Vehicles not properly registered or parked outside designated student parking areas will be booted. A payment of a $5 fine and a $25 registration fee will be required before the boot is removed or the vehicle is towed at the owner's expense.
Note: Replacement stickers are available for $15 if a car is sold and replaced. Remove the old parking sticker before the sale and bring it to AFJROTC (Mobile MC219) with the $15 payment.

Maintain a minimum weighted cumulative GPA of 2.0 (verified by a school official).

Pay the $25.00 registration fee (see payment guidelines on the "Approved Applications" tab).

Unauthorized Campus Departure: Leaving campus or visiting your car during school hours without proper authorization may result in the loss of parking privileges.
Parking Tardy Policy: Read and understand the parking tardy policy.
Code of Conduct Infractions: Infractions may result in the loss of parking privileges. This applies to both the driver and passengers, as the driver is responsible for the conduct of their passengers.
Academic Performance: Students falling below the mandated cumulative weighted GPA minimum of 2.0 will forfeit their parking privileges.
Activity-Related Parking: Early release, work release, athletics, and other curricular activities do not qualify for a hardship request and will not affect the allocation of parking spots. All appeals must be addressed via email to Lt. Col. Jenkins (jeffreyj.jenkins@cms.k12.nc.us).
Attendance: Driving to school is a privilege. Students who are consistently tardy in the mornings may lose this privilege after six tardies in a semester. Additionally, students may lose their parking privileges for accumulating 10 or more unexcused absences from a class during the semester.
Unauthorized Parking Areas: Students parking in the teacher’s lot, administration reserved parking, sub parking, or visitors' parking will be booted and fined and may lose their current or future parking privileges.
Unsafe Behavior: Reckless or unsafe driving, playing loud or inappropriate music, and non-compliance with adult directives while on campus may result in the loss of parking privileges.
Financial Obligations: Students with outstanding tickets or other financial obligations will not be allowed to register until all obligations have been settled.
Non-Compliance with Parking Privileges: Students who have lost their driving privileges but continue to park on campus will be booted or towed at the owner's expense.
Students must park in their assigned numbered parking spaces for the entire school year.
