In order to attend Randolph Middle School, students either have received a magnet seat through their continuation from elementary school or by participating in the CMS Magnet Lottery.
IB students (K-12) are expected to demonstrate conscientious academic effort by regularly completing assignments and by participating constructively in lessons, activities, etc. Students must demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, be self-motivated, and have a desire to excel. All IB students must be willing to work on assigned projects and research in addition to regular homework and classwork. Students should also be intellectually curious, independent thinkers, able writers and have an interest in community service and issues facing the international community. Families must actively support each student’s participation in the IB program.
In addition to course work students will need to meet the following expectations to remain in the IB Program in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (this is also found in the parent compact that is signed by families before they begin at the school.
Students in 6-8 must pass their world language (Language Acquisition) course
Students in 6-8 must complete their Service as Action Requirements
6th graders will complete two Actions at school (one per semester)
7th graders will complete one Action at school, and one at home
8th graders will complete their community project (deadlines throughout the year)
