4 step Application Process

Step 1

Complete the Application

Click the link to access the HIGH SCHOOL application. Click the link to access the MIDDLE SCHOOL application. Each component of the application will be due by 5 PM APRIL 1, 2021. Unfortunately, applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Step 2:

ScreenCast-O-Matic/ScreeCastify Interview Submission

Instructions:

  1. You will watch the "HOW TO" video below. The video will show you how to make a ScreenCast-O-Matic OR ScreenCastify (see below) video. You may also use the links below to access written and visual instructions.

  2. At the beginning of the video, State your First and Last Name

  3. You will provide responses to the Interview Questions (see ScreenCast Interview Questions below). These questions are to be answered in your ScreenCast Video.

  4. You must be dressed in business casual attire for your interview.

  5. Make sure that you record your video in a quiet environment without distraction.

  6. Your recording must be between 3 - 5 minutes.

MAKING A SCREENCASTIFY VIDEO!!!

It has come to our attention that student Chromebooks may not support SCREENCAST-O-Matic. Use the instructions below as an alternate way to record your video interview!

ScreenCast-O-Matic OR ScreenCastify Interview Questions

Choose 3 questions to discuss.

  1. Give an example from your life of something you have had to work hard for or that challenged you. What did you learn from that experience?

  2. What can you contribute to the other students in the AVID program?

  3. What are your strengths as a student? What do you need to improve to become a better student?

  4. What makes you want to be a part of AVID? What do you feel AVID can do for you?

  5. What is one time that you experience an academic setback and overcame it?

Step 3

Teacher References

Instructions:

  1. Ask TWO individuals (i.e. teacher, administrator, mentor, or staff member) AT YOUR SCHOOL for a letter of recommendation.

  2. The reference/recommendation should be from the two individuals that were submitted on the application.

  3. Click the link to access the teacher reference.

  4. Share the teacher reference link with your teacher.

  5. Your TEACHER should complete and submit the link.

Step 4

Application Submission

Instructions:

Submissions will take place in our AVID Google Classroom. Click the link to access the google classroom invitation link. If a code is requested, use the following code: xcgd5u2. This will allow you to JOIN the Google Classroom and Submit the following:

  1. Verification of your Google Form Application submission

  2. ScreenCast Video Interview link

  3. Verification of your Teacher Reference submissions
