FRESHMAN ACADEMY CORE BELIEFS

Classes/Teachers

Freshmen have a group of stellar core teachers who are dedicated to supporting their learning. Teachers will meet weekly to discuss classroom techniques and ways to assist freshmen in their core classes of English, math, social studies and science .

Social/Emotional Support

Students are assigned counselors who will monitor academic progress and social emotional stability skills. Individual interventions will also be provided as necessary. Additionally, Social Emotional learning will be a focus during daily advisory lessons.

Parent Communication

We will be utilizing various methods to communicate with parents including, but not limited to Connect Ed messages, emails and a Freshman Academy webpage.

Incentive/Recognition Program

Students are rewarded for their great in-class behavior and their desire to do well. Each quarter, a recognition event will be planned. Attendance at these events is based on a set of criteria related to discipline, attendance, and academics that must be met in order for a student to attend. As the criteria is solidified, communication will be made with parents and students. This is important and we are constantly working to see what this could look like in a virtual setting.

Highlights

Freshman Academy Teacher of the Month

Each month we will recognize an oustanding staff member in our Freshman academy.
