About Me

As an educator for more than 20 years, I have taught all levels of language arts from basic reading skills to AP Literature and Composition--and ages K-adult. My four children--two in college and two completely "grown"-- have all learned to read, write, drive, do laundry and cook pasta with my help. In my spare time, I garden, walk my dog, and read books on brain science.

My BA in English is from Davidson College and teaching licenses are from Queens University. I am certified as Highly Qualified in English Language Arts and in teaching Academically and Intellectually Gifted students. I've worked with students in classrooms, Kumon Centers, and through tutoring using Orton-Gillingham methods in multi-sensory education. In addition to teaching in CMS and the Chapel Hill/ Carrboro City Schools, I have taught soft-skills (including communication skills), business writing, and adult learning competencies (trained the trainers) within diverse business settings.
