This is the first course within the Carpentry Pathway. It introduces students to the foundation skills that carpenters use and exposes them to the opportunity of a career as a carpenter, or other tradesman, once they graduate from high school.
This course introduces students to the safety procedures, tools, and materials carpenters use to complete a project. Students will learn about the safety, tools, and materials that are needed to complete the project through text and hands-on activities. Once students have learned about the safety, tools and materials, they will apply what they have learned through the completion of four individual projects and one partner project.
Within this course, you will complete two NCCER modules as you work to earn the pathway’s credential. Students will complete all eight of the modules required for the credential at the completion of the pathway’s third course - Construction Core.
