How can the Student Services staff support me?
Carmel's school counselors, school psychologist, & school social worker are here to help you navigate your way through middle school. We know it can be tough! We will advocate for you and give you the tools you need to be successful.
What happens to the information I share?
Your school counselors, school psychologist, and school social worker will keep things between you and her/him/them unless you or someone else is at risk of being harmed or you agree to tell someone else like an administrator, teacher, or your parent(s).
There are a variety of things you many need to talk about like the following topics:
Wanting to improve your:
Grades
Attendance
Behavior
Stress from school, home, peers
Grief due to the loss of a loved one
Friendships - making friends, keeping friends, "drama" with friends
Peer Pressure - knowing how to set and keep healthy boundaries
Anger - learning how to understand your emotions and react to things appropriately
Sadness - a general sense of sadness or something happened that makes you feel sad a lot
Conflict - learning how to get along better with others and communicate more effectively
Safety - finding healthy, positive coping skills that help you get through tough times

You can also now request to see your school counselor or social worker through SmartPass.
What if I have a crisis or emergency situation outside of school when I or someone I know needs to talk to someone?
Call 911 in an emergency, if you feel unable to keep yourself safe or if someone appears at risk of self-harm.
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Dial or text 988 for 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors who can help people experiencing mental health-related distress.
The Trevor Project: Text “Start” to 678-678 OR call 866-488-7386 all day, any day to reach trained counselors who can support people under 25 who are in crisis, feeling suicidal or in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk. The Trevor Project specializes in supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
National Sexual Assault Hotline: Call 800-656-4673 (HOPE) for confidential support services for survivors, regardless of where they are in their recovery.
National Eating Disorders Helpline: Call or text 800-931-2237 for support, resources and treatment options for yourself or a loved one who may be experiencing an eating disorder.
