About Mrs. Blackwell

My name is Amber Blackwell. I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, SC. I moved from Myrtle Beach in 2007 to attend college at USC in Columbia, SC. I earned my bachelor's degree in Experimental Psychology with a minor in Social Work in 2010. After I graduated, I decided that teaching was my passion and that is what moved me to Charlotte, NC. I attended UNCC and earned my Masters in Teaching in December 2013. I am currently a National Board candidate and hopefully will be certified later this year! This is my seventh year teaching and I am very happy to be a Bailey Bronco!

I am married to my high school sweetheart and my best friend. We were married September 1, 2012. We met on the first day at band camp! :) We are both from Myrtle Beach, SC so we go there often to visit our families and friends.

We have a 11 year old Shih-Tzu named Princess Leia who I treat like my daughter and have many pictures of in the classroom. We have a 4 year old son, named Asher and a new baby girl born in February 2020, named Amelia. Life is crazy with two little ones, so be prepared for all the stories!

​When I'm not teaching, I love to read or start a new Pinterest project. I also love to watch movies; I am a HUGE Harry Potter and Star Wars fan. I love to read and watch anything sci-fi or fantasy related. During some school breaks and every summer, we travel to Orlando, FL to visit family and of course, go to the theme parks!

I'm not a huge sports fan, but will watch the USC Gamecocks and Green Bay Packers (mainly because my husband has every TV turned to the game!). I recently bought a long bow and arrows from the Renaissance Festival, so I'm practicing Archery and really enjoy it.
