Service Learning
Service learning is the development and application of knowledge and skills towards meeting an identified and authentic community need.
In this research-based approach, students often undertake service initiatives related to topics studied previously in their academic disciplines, utilizing skills, understandings, and values developed in these studies.
Community service and reflection- Service in ACTion: Anything that benefits other people or groups and for which you do not receive payment or a grade (also not permitted- chores/service for family, campaigning for political party/candidate, religious worship/teaching). The activity can be something you do through our school (Albemarle Road Middle School- Campus Beautification Day, After School Clubs, Tutoring), another school, or can be something completely separate from a school (neighborhood cleanup, local charity)
6th Grade- 2 activities minimum/year
7th Grade- 3 activities minimum/year
8th Grade- 3 activities minimum/year AND completion of Community Project

School Event/Program Reflection Sheet- Will Be Completed After Attending A School Event or Program (Performing Arts, Symposium, Academic Celebration, Latin Block Party, Black History Month Production, International Cultural Night, Etc.)
2023-2024 Completed Service Activity- Will Be Completed For EACH service learning activity completed this year. (Campus Beautification Day, Etc.)
