Mrs. Long

Hi! My name is Mrs. Long and I am so excited about being your 3rd grade teacher this year! This will be my 14th year teaching and my 5th year at Olde Providence Elementary. Third grade is such a fun year full of learning and adventure. I am dedicated to making this a wonderful year and I look forward to getting to know each of you! 

I was born and raised in Charlotte. I went to Sharon Elementary, Carmel Middle (where I met my husband!) and Myers Park High School. I started dancing when I was 4 years old and continued through college. I spent most of my childhood at the dance studio or traveling for competitions. I also loved playing outside in my neighborhood, playing “school” with my neighbors and swimming in the summer.

I attended Appalachian State University and loved every second of living in the mountains. (Even those very, very cold winter days!) I came back to Charlotte to do my student teaching (at Olde Providence).  I taught 3rd grade at Elon Park Elementary for 10 years before coming back to OP in 2019.   I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2015 and I completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction program in June of 2019.  

I have two children.  Keegan is 5 and will be starting Kindergarten at OP this year!  My daughter, Brooke, is 3!  I have 6 nephews and 5 nieces.  I enjoy being outside, playing with my kiddos, spending time with my family, photography, reading, and traveling.
