When you go to a restaurant, would you like to place an order consisting of dishes of your choice? Or would you rather have the restaurant serve you dishes picked up by them, which they consider to be their best, regardless of your taste in food?
I think most of us would prefer the former, as there’s nothing more liberating than the freedom to choose what you want, and the GLUG/FMSK club is based on the foundation that leads to this freedom.
Free or Open Source Software allow users to freely run the program for any purpose, modify the program as they want, and also to freely distribute copies of either the original version or their own modified version.
The club had its first meeting for this semester on 26th August 2019, it was held in one of the classrooms, and was attended by many enthusiastic members and the core team.
During this session each member gave an introduction about his/her self ,they also spoke about their field of interest and how they would like to contribute to the growth of the club.
The core team also introduced themselves and explained their roles and strategies, this was followed by a brief explanation on free and open source by the club head, Saket Vaibhav who also listed out the numerous events planned out for this semester and the importance of these events.
The session ended with the club members giving out their ideas on what workshops they would like the club to conduct.
