GUILD Club has conducted their first ever technical event on 27th of February, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in a Lab-505, CSE-Department,5th Floor.
The event was titled as “Introduction To Linux and Git”. The main aim for the event was to give a basic introduction tothe GNU/Linux Operating System and Git. Event was attended by the 23 students.
The Speaker for the event was Gautham Nagendran. He spoke about the GNU/Linux Operating System. He explainedhow GNU/Linux acts as the ideal environment to start learning not only how to write code, but also how to get started in the fields of cybersecurity and server management. He spoke about the advantages of Linux over Windows such ashow GNU/Linux distributions are free of cost, how GNU/LInux is a more secure environment and more over, how much freedom it provides users and developers. He also mentioned the various applications of GNU/Linux for research and academics.
The online code platform, Gitlab, was introduced, and it was shown how one can collaborate and develop a project with other developers. It provides various tools to develop, review and track edits. This tool is coupled with a cloud based platform which will be home to all your projects and contributions which you can show off.
Student were taught how to boot their pendrives and how they can install Linux in their system.
