Event Description:

In a world where we have the freedom of speech, expression, movement, occupation, technology, ideas and several other things, why should we limit ourselves when it comes to the use of software? Imagine Being able to run a program freely for any purpose, being able to modify the program as you want and also freely distribute copies of either the original version or their modified version, this can be achieved through FOSS which is the acronym for free or open software and this is the sole purpose of this club

The club focuses on :

1. Increasing knowledge of free software/hardware technologies

2. Introducing people to free software/hardware community

3. Providing a platform to discuss technology

4. Conducting workshops and seminars for effective learning

An open source software is a type of computer software whose source code is such that users can study and change it, and the free software club is the knight in shining armor which helps to understand this better and gives the opportunity to involve with free software, and with this objective we started off with our first in house on 10th August 2018

The various club members were present on this day to take part in the amazing learning experience on free and open software. The meaning, objectives and the need for freedom in the world of software was explained, and then the various club members introduced themselves by sharing their experience in the field of software, the in house session was an interactive one in which the club members could share their ideas and point of views, and there were discussions held on what open source means and what the club represents. This session was ended with the bifurcation of duties among the members and listing of the various events to be held by the club this semester.
