An engaging and intellectually stimulating AI-themed event was conducted by Flinders University in collaboration with the Innovation Club of CMR Institute of Technology, Bangalore. The initiative aimed to promote curiosity and awareness about Artificial Intelligence while giving students a platform to apply their knowledge in a competitive setting.
The event was structured into two competitive rounds designed to assess participants’ conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in AI. Participants were challenged to not only recall theoretical concepts but also interpret real-world scenarios and select logical solutions within limited time.
Round 1 was introduced by a representative from Flinders University, who explained the format and evaluation method before the quiz began. The round consisted of a timed quiz focusing on real-world AI problems, designed to test both conceptual understanding and calculation-based reasoning skills.
Round 1: Top performers
The following participants secured the highest scores in Round 1 and were recognized as top performers:
Deeksha Ganiga
Daniya John
Ramkumar G
Tejas Kumar
Sai Emani
These participants were shortlisted based on their performance in Round 1 and were selected to advance to the next round. Their qualification reflects their strong understanding and problem-solving abilities in the domain of Artificial Intelligence.
Format and Evaluation Criteria
The first round consisted of 20 multiple-choice questions, each providing four answer options with only one correct choice. The total duration of the round was 45 minutes, allowing participants to demonstrate both accuracy and time management skills.
To ensure fairness and focus on conceptual understanding, formulas were provided for calculation-based questions.
The evaluation followed a structured marking scheme:
+5 points were awarded for each correct answer
−2 points were deducted for each incorrect answer
0 points were given for unanswered questions
The final score was calculated out of 100 marks. Based on performance, the top 50 scorers qualified for Round 2.
At the end of the quiz, the organizers announced the top performers based on their scores in Round 1. The six participants who secured the highest marks were specially recognized for their performance. They were invited onto the stage and appreciated by the university representatives.
Each of them was awarded a soft toy as a token of encouragement and participation. This gesture created a cheerful atmosphere and motivated the remaining participants for the next round.
Round 2: Upcoming Session
Round 2 of the AI Quiz & Hackathon is yet to be conducted. During the initial event, participants were given a brief overview of the structure, objectives, and expectations of the upcoming round to help them prepare accordingly.
The second round is scheduled to be held on March 25, 2026, at the Taj Hotel.
This round will emphasize advanced learning and practical exposure. It will feature a masterclass session on advanced AI concepts, along with expert guidance on ethical AI development and responsible implementation. Participants will also be introduced to practical AI project development methodologies to strengthen their applied knowledge.
