MOOC FOR FACULTY – GUIDELINES
Every faculty is required to complete at least one MOOC per semester, unless exempted by Principal, CMRIT.
Exemption from MOOC may be granted for faculty undertaking 3 or more coursework related to his/her Ph.D program in one attempt. Principal and HoD must approve such exemptions.
The end date of the ODD/EVEN semester for MOOC is same as the last date of the odd/even semester vacation.
The duration of the selected MOOC should be 4 Weeks or more.
MOOC offered by NPTEL, Udemy, edX, or Coursera may be selected.
Faculty should select the course that has relevance to science/engineering.
Starting from academic year 2021-22, each faculty must score a minimum 75% (i.e., secure a Silver Certificate) from at least one NPTEL course that closely matches with the subject he/she will teach UG/PG students.
Criteria for exempting NPTEL Silver Certification requirement:
For Engineering Departments: Faculty who has cleared GATE with 90 percentile or better score;
For Basic Sciences Department: Faculty who have cleared:
(a) National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by CSIR- UGC; or
(b) State-Level Eligibility Test (SET) conducted prior to 1st June, 2002.
9. The progress of MOOC will be checked by the concerned HoD/DRC Head at regular intervals.
10. All HoDs are exempted from undertaking MOOCs.
