Small Group Considerations
One of our direct counseling services at NEES is small group counseling. Typically, no more than six students will meet regularly with their grade-level counselor, the district social worker, or our military family counselor, to discuss a central topic with specific skills. Click through the dropdowns below to learn more about how your child may benefit from these groups!
Social/Friendship Skills
Does your student struggle with making friends?
Do they mention being involved in "drama" at school?
Are they more reserved with peers?
Coping Skills
Does your student struggle with handling big feelings?
Are you hearing about emerging behaviors in the classroom?
Does your student often have "meltdowns" at home?
Family Changes
Has there been a recent loss in your family (death, separation, etc.)?
Has your family recently experienced a change in structure (divorce/separation, marriage, etc.)?
Resiliency
Does your student struggle with changes, small or large (ranging from change in routine to lifestyle/family structure)?
Has your student experienced a traumatic event (within or outside your family unit) and need extra support?
Study Skills
Does your child struggle to keep work organized (beyond what is developmentally expected)?
Have you noticed multiple missing work notifications in PowerSchool/your child's gradebook?
Does your student perform well on classwork/structured assignments, but score lower on assessments/benchmarks?
