Each principal selects a Site-Based Induction Specialist to coordinate mentoring and Induction activities at the school level. Each Site-Based Induction Specialist (SBIS) can mentor up to five new hires. They work with the New Teacher Induction Coordinator and Facilitator to plan and implement site-based programs to support new hires’ professional learning through mentoring and Induction Seminars.
Your Induction Specialist serves as your mentor for school-specific information and for support in the implementation of effective, engaging instruction, classroom management, reflective practice, and educator well-being.
Each Site-Based Induction Specialist (SBIS) will lead new hires through regularly occurring sessions called Induction Seminars. The learning will focus on school-specific information, individual new hire needs, explicit instruction/best first instruction, classroom management, educator well-being, and reflective practice. New hires can earn up to 15 hours of in-service credit when attending these meetings either before or after school. Since new hires come to our district with a range of experience, backgrounds, strengths, and needs, learning is differentiated to promote meaningful growth, individualized support, and professional success.
