Individuals looking to teach a course in Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps (JROTC) program must hold a JROTC license.
Individuals recommended for a JROTC license must meet the following requirements:
Must send official transcripts for all credit and degrees earned in the United States
Valid JROTC training certificate with an expiration date
Certification of preparation by the military branch approving the teacher placement
Verification of employment in a JROTC program in a Tennessee LEA
JROTC Licensure Renewal
To renew a JROTC license, an educator must:
Hold a valid JROTC training certificate
Submit a recommendation to the department from the LEA where the educator is employed
Steps to Renew:
Log into your TNCompass account and click "Start a New Transaction"
Click "Renew a License"
Select the license to renew
You will verify the information and complete each tab in the transaction.
You will need to upload a valid JROTC training certificate.
Check the verification box at the bottom of each page and click "Save & Continue"
On the summary page, click "Save & Continue"
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT submit the transaction yet. Email your HR Certified Rep so they can get the director's recommendation and then they will let you know when to submit.
Once you've received an email from Dr. Sucharski notifying you of the approval from the Director of Schools, click "Add Personal Affirmation" and complete that page.
If the transaction status is pending OELP Review, your application has been submitted. You should receive notification once your transaction is approved by the state.
JROTC Licensure Reactivation
A JROTC license may be reactivated by holding a valid JROTC training certificate and submitting a vertification that the applicant will be employed in a JROTC program in a Tennessee LEA.
