Dear Mr.Lai,
I am writing regarding the selections of some end-of-year activities. I would like to provide some suggestions for the committee.
First, one idea that comes to mind is to go hiking. This is a great way to relax and enjoy natural scenery.
Second, we can take a boat trip. A boat trip down a river can be a refreshing experience. Also, we can take some photos and play boardgames on the boat. It’s a fun and unique experience that we don’t get to have very often.
Third, another interesting activity could be seeing a movie. Movie night can be a relaxing way to end the year. It is an easy and fun activity that everyone will enjoy.
I am sure these events will be both enjoyable and memorable.
Thank you for considering my suggestions. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Yours sincerely,
Anna Chan

Dear Diary,
Today, I celebrated my good friend Jennine's birthday at her home.
Early in the morning, my friend and I were busy preparing cakes, decorations and small gifts. Jennine likes desserts, so cake is essential. We chose a chocolate cake, which looked appetizing. In addition to the cake, there were also ribbons and balloons filling the house with a festive atmosphere.
When Jennine got home, she was so surprised to see the decorations and cake. We sang the birthday song together, made good wishes, and then ate the delicious cake. At the party, we also played many interesting games, with laughter and cheers.
Looking at Jennie’s happy face, I felt extremely satisfied. At this birthday party, I experienced the joy of celebrating a friend’s birthday. What an unforgettable day!

Lucy's New Friend
On the first school day, Lucy was very shy and worried about talking to other students. At lunch, she sat alone in the canteen and felt lonely. When she came home for dinner, Lucy felt sad and didn't talk to her family. Her mum noticed her silence and began to feel worried.
On the second day, Lucy’s mum took her to a pet adoption center to help Lucy adopt a pet. Lucy looked around and spotted a black and white puppy. She was too shy to ask the center assistant about it. However, her mum knew that she wanted that pet and asked the cashier if they could adopt it.
Lucy then asked the center assistant, "Could I adopt this cute puppy?" The assistant replied, "Yes, you can." Lucy was so happy! She excitedly went back home and immediately started playing with the puppy. In the end, Lucy and the puppy were no longer shy and were happy to have found a best friend in each other.

One day, I was driving home on a mountain when I heard a loud noise and saw bright lights. Later, I saw two aliens hiding behind a tree while they tried to fix their spaceship.
I quickly ran behind a tree to call the police while I was watching the aliens. Suddenly, one came up behind me and touched my shoulder. I was shocked, so I shoutled oudly at the alien and scared it. It ran back to the spaceship.
I continued watching the aliens from behind the tree. They went inside the spaceship and it took off to return the aliens to outer space. On my way home I saw the spaceship flying through the sky and still felt scared.

Yesterday I was driving home when I heard a loud noise. I turned the headlights of my car on and I saw two aliens fixing their spaceship. I was scared of the aliens so I quickly hid behind a tree. The aliens were speaking a strange language so I couldn’t understand what they were saying.
From behind the tree I called the police. While I was talking on the phone an alien came and touched me. I was very scared. So I told the police to come quickly. I shouted loudly at the aliens and told them not to come near me again. The alien was scared of my voice and ran away.
Finally, the aliens went inside their spaceship and took off into space. I hope I never see them again.

Have you seen an alien before? I have! And not just one alien! Let me talk about my encounter. One day, I was diving home on the mountains When I got past the first hills, I heard a very loud noise and saw bright tights. So I drove there to check it out.
What I saw was spectacular. Two aliens were fixing their spaceship! I was surprised because I had never seen an alien before. I was scared and I took out my phone to call the police. The alien seemed to noticed me. One came and touched me so I shouted loudly and the frightened alien ran away from me.
The aliens went inside their spaceship and took off into outer space. Was it all a dream? I know what I saw and I can never forget it.

Dear Editor,
I am writing in response to your article titled ‘Ethnic minority students need more support’. I believe that ethnic minority students need more support. Therefore, we should do more to help ethnic minority students.
Firstly, for teachers, they can encourage ethnic minority students to interact with local students. For example, teachers can help them use the local language to communicate with students. Moreover, they can also hold some activities about teamwork, because it can offer ethnic minority students a chance to get along with local students. In the end, everyone should protect minority students’ self-esteem.
Secondly, we must respect every ethnic minority student as a student. We should try to get along with them in order to protect their self-esteem. Furthermore, we can talk about some interesting topics with them, such as sport, aerospace and agriculture.
In summary, I think we can help them a lot with correct measures. They should be treated normally, even when they are in a different society and environment. So, let’s help them to integrate into our society. I believe they will be happier than before with our encouragement and help.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Mr. Chow,
I am writing to express my thoughts on the significance of incorporating mental health awareness programmes into our school’s curriculum. I firmly believe that these programmes are essential for fostering a supportive and understanding environment for all students.
In today’s fast-paced and often stressful world, mental health challenges among students can hinder the development of essential skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills, which are vital for academic success and careers.
The first beneficial activity to raise awareness and promote mental health in our school is to organize a mental health awareness week featuring workshops focusing on mental health topics, such as educating students about common mental health issues. For these initiatives to succeed, we will need resources such as mental health professionals, brochures on mental health topics. There is a morning sharing for student ambassadors to promote the programme so as to attract and encourage students to join it. The skills of the programme are practical to help students control their emotions and learn more about their feelings. For example, anxiety, depression and frustration. We’d better help students understand mental health and its importance.
Another beneficial activity to help students learn techniques to reduce stress and promote relaxation is to invite a guest speaker to discuss mental health. Holly Mak is a mental health counsellor with years of experience supporting an international and diverse clientele across the lifespan, ranging from children and families to teens. It is appropriate to be our guest speakers to help students learn techniques to reduce stress. Give some practical tips for managing stress and anxiety and encourage students to do more exercise. Exercise can help regulate sleep patterns, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep, which is crucial for stress management. Physical activity boosts energy levels, make us be more positive. To ensure the smooth running of the activity, we will need some technical setup. For example, test microphones, projectors. To make sure the microphone is fully charged. We can have a Q&A session for students to ask some question. Time management is important to avoid overrunning.
I sincerely believe that through these efforts, we can create a more compassionate school atmosphere where mental health is prioritized. Thank you for considering my suggestions. I look forward to seeing our school take strides toward enhancing mental health awareness among students.

Dear Principal Lee,
I am writing to propose a new volunteering project that our school can carry out with an animal shelter. As the chairperson of the Volunteering Club, I believe this project would strengthen our school's connection with the community while helping animals in need.
First, we could organize a "Pet Care Day" at the animal shelter, where students would assist with feeding, grooming, and playing with the animals. This event could take place on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, starting next month. Around 20-30 students would participate each week, and they will be supervised by teachers and shelter staff. The reason for this activity is to provide care for the animals and teach students responsibility and compassion.
Another important reason is the benefits for the animal shelter. Our help would reduce the workload of the staff and give the animals more attention. Moreover, it could increase adoption rates, as well-cared-for and socialized animals are more likely to find homes.
All in all, I truly believe this project would benefit both the shelter and our students. I hope you can consider my proposal.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Wong

The Ocean's Importance
The ocean is a vast, mysterious area of around 70% of the planet, providing various seafoods to humans. It plays an indispensable role in the food chain. Our relationship with the ocean has undergone significant development. But we often turn a blind eye to marine ecosystem safety.
For example, people throw a lot of litter into the ocean, like microplastics, that pose a threat to animals that live in the sea. It affects the water quality and marine biodiversity. Today, the ocean faces problems like pollution, overfishing and climate change that are altering its delicate balance.
In my view, I think the government could carry out the implement, stricting bans on single-use plastics and improve people's awarness of environmental protection, reduce the unnecessary use of plastic.

Marine Species Under Threat
As time passes, there are a lot of marine species under threat. The causes of threatened marine species are overfishing, global warming, greed and selfishness. More marine species are being endangered and in the worst scenario, going extinct. Wiping out a species completely means we will not ever see them again.
Marine species like Chinese bahaba are seriously affected by overfishing. In Hong Kong it usually might migrates there for a season. But after severe overfishing, it almost disappeared from Hong Kong waters.
Other marine species like coral are highly susceptible by global warming When water reaches a certain temperature. It will be bleached to white. Coral is what made the sea beautiful and colorful. After they are bleached by high water temperature. It will not be the same anymore
Some marine species like swim bladder, fish maw are targeted due to their high commercial value. The greedy and selfish human tends to target them for money. But they never thought what they will do after the species is wiped out.
Do we really wish for a lifeless sea? Marine species are being endangered and even extinction. Why don't we restore back the ocean to the lively atmosphere it had before? Without life in the sea, it is just like an empty desert.
Leung Ka Man
Hong Kong’s amazing undersea world
Hong Kong had a wonderful undersea world before but it was being destroyed. Many people didn't notice that there was marine biodiversity in Hong Kong. A variety of species were concealed under the sea. However, they are facing extinction and decline because of human factors.
In our life, we unconsciously put marine species under threat. When we have all-you-can-eat buffets the restaurant produces a lot of food waste. The frustrating this is that the restaurants need more seafood to be served and more fishermen to keep fishing in large quantities. As the result, it leads to overfishing, which could cause population declines in many marine species.
Furthermore, building more houses and factories is a reason behind habitat loss, Places for marine species to live and breed are reducing. Also, the pollution from development is threating species’ life. The risks to marine life include plastic waste, heavy metals and fossil fuels. The consequence is that marine species are becoming extinct.
Despite these consequences our lives continue and so does the damage to the oceans. To support endangered marine species we should support conservation groups to protect the sustainability of marine habitats. We can begin by taking responsibility for local marine areas by, for example, cleaning up nearby beaches.

Letter to the Editor about Youth Obesity
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my views on children in Hong Kong getting fatter and living a less active lifestyle. Like many people, I agree that children in Hong Kong are indeed getting fatter and living less active lifestyles. I also believe there are many factors involved in this.
First of all, poor eating habits and lifestyle choices are the main factors why children are getting fatter. Poor eating habits means having an unhealthy diet. For example, eating a lot of junk food or snacks makes children obese. Because junk food and snacks are tastier then healthy food and also cheaper, young people have greater access to them. Poor lifestyle means a lack of activity. For example, many children now play mobile games or watch movies online instead of playing sports such as ball games as entertainment.
Second the effects of obesity can be terrible. On a personal level, it can lead to serious health conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. The result is often premature death or disability. Also, in psychological terms, obese people feel isolated and depressed because they believe they are unattractive and consequently have low self-esteem. At a societal level, some obese people may suffer from chronic illness, requiring the government to dedicate significant resources to their care.
Third, solutions for obesity mostly revolve around promoting healthy lifestyle choices. For example, the government can encourage children to do more exercise through advertising on TV and social media such as YouTube and Instagram to raise awareness about obesity and the problems that it causes. The government may also change policy for schools, such as stipulating schools should have at least two hours of physical education lessons a week. The government may also make junk food in school canteens more expensive and less available. These measures may effectively reduce youth obesity.
In conclusion, youth obesity is a serious problem that requires a coordinated solution. The government must do something to reduce the factors that lead people to adopt an unhealthy lifestyle.
Yours faithfully,
Chris Wong

Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my concern about the growing problem of youth obesity in Hong Kong. It's worrying to see so many children leading inactive lifestyles and facing health issues at such a young age.
Many children today spend too much time on their phones or playing video games instead of playing outside. Fast food is also super tempting and it's easy to get. If we don't change this trend, we could see more kids struggling with serious health problems in the future.
I believe that parents and schools need to work together to encourage healthier habits. Students should have more sports activities and make physical education fun, while parents can limit screen time and cook healthier meals. We could even organise community sports events to get everyone involved and make exercise enjoyable.
In conclusion, we all have a role to play in tackling youth obesity. By promoting active lifestyles and healthy eating habits we can help our younger generation grow up healthier and happier. It's crucial that we raise awareness and support each other in making these positive changes. Together we can inspire our friends and families to adopt healthier habits for a brighter future.

Letter to the Editor about Youth Obesity
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my views on youth obesity in Hong Kong. Like many people, I agree that children in Hong Kong are getting fatter and that this is reaching epidemic levels. In the last 20 years obesity has rapidly increased around the world.
In general, obesity is the result of an inactive lifestyle and poor eating habits. The average amount of exercise time for children in Hong Kong has decreased. Many children are obsessed with the internet, especially with playing video games. They can sit in front of their desk all day with a computer. Exercising is no longer a regular part of their daily routine apart from school P/E lessons.
Also, their diet is lacking in nutrition and contains too many snacks and too much junk food. Fried foods, soft drinks and ice cream, which are high calorie foods, are children's favorites. Children with a weight problem can experience various diseases such as heart disease and high blood pressure that may cause death. Obesi tyalso interrupt their daily lives as well as their mental health. They feel unattractive and have low self esteem. They tend to avoid social activities which leads to isolation and depression.
To solve this problem the mass media can launch public campaigns to promote balanced diets and educate children about the dangers of obesity. In addition, the government can provide more exercise facilities in the community and organise low-cost fitness programs for children. It is essential to encourage them to exercise more
In conclusion, obese children need society’s help. We should give them a hand without judging them. It is not just a question of their welfare but that of society as well.
Yours faithfully,
Chris Wong

Useful ways to stay away from Internet Crime
In recent years, Internet has become a part of our daily life. We can communicate with others, collect information and do shopping through Internet. The Internet is very useful. However, we have to be careful and avoid falling into traps when using it. In view of this, I would like to give several suggestions to everyone on how to stay away from Internet crime.
For online shopping, there is a point which we have to be aware of. First, we need to check the credibility of online shops. Some of the shops intend to collect personal information instead of selling items. Therefore, we have to be careful when doing online shopping. Otherwise, our details of credit cards may be disclosed without our permission.
Besides, we need to be careful when we collect files from the Internet. We must not download files from unknown sources. Also we must not download copyrighted materials since it is illegal.
Moreover, we should use instant messaging to chat with family and friends only. If you want to meet new friends online, you should verify the identity of new friends made online as some of them may have bad intentions. After all, you should enjoy messaging with your friends only.
Furthermore, you need to make friends carefully in online chatroom because unknown friends may only intend to collect your personal information when chatting with you. It is important for you to protect yourselves in this platform. If you are worried about it, you may chat with friends you have already known only in online chatroom.
In conclusion, Internet has brought us a lot of conveniences in our daily life. However, we need to be careful when using it and avoid Internet Crime to spoil our fun.

Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my opinion about the abnormal amount of social media influencers nowadays. After doing my own research on this strange phenomena, I have found out that most of them help promote company products or services, and this situation is spreading like wildfire, and I like I have come up with some reasons for this.
I think this marketing strategy is quite genius for the company as social media influencers can have millions of followers, and more people are incorporating social to their daily lives, meaning the follower count of those influencers will only keep climbing. In the end, these online stars can earn an enormous amount of money from being an advertiser of these companies, the companies will also be benefited as more people notice their products, with the help of influencers, the possibility of someone purchasing their products or using their paid services are greatly increased, which in turn make their products more profitable.
This is what I think about this recent trend. However, I personally think that there could be some other reasons for this online marketing campaign.
First and probably the most noticeable cause for this online influencers growth and marketing strategy is that social media are getting more wide spread and popular among younger age groups. Teenagers often want to be noticed and be famous, this could be a possible reason for them becoming online influencers, which could explain the phenomena.
The other obvious culprit is that companies realize that using these influencers to sell tire products or services is getting more profitable than traditional marketing campaign like using television advertisement. As a result, not only do they sponsor these influencers to promote their company they might also send their products for them to test and review, with the eyes of millions watching their videos about opening boxes and testing items that they didn’t purchase, the company can spread their name to others, faster than the speed of light. With their items getting attention and spread like a plague, their earnings will immediately jump sky-high significantly increase their income. It is an intelligent way of merging marketing and technologies together.
These are what I think the main reasons for the shocking explosion of new born social media. There could be another hundred possible explanations for this, but this is my own conclusion on this hot topic of discussion.
In the end, companies survive through selling products with countless alternatives marketing strategies, and this new way of marketing is just only one line they are using to keep their blood supply flowing continuously. Even without this, hardly will these companies collapse or fade away. However, it seems to me that this will probably last till the foreseeable future as some people are still adopting the concept of connecting people to people through social media, and people are just addicted to using social media.
This is my personal opinion and conclusion about the recent light speed growth of social media influencers and the modern route that companies are taking to promote their products and increase their sales.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Wong

Cyberbullying
The phenomenon of cyberbullying is more and more common. I’d like to share my friend’s experience of being cyberbullied and how he handled it.
Nowadays, nearly everyone can afford a mobile phone. Everyone had his own phone. However, most teenagers use it in the wrong ways. They just use their phones in making friends and playing social media, such as Soul, Instagram and Facebook. It may cause them to post the ugly photos of someone they don’t like. But they don’t know this small behaviour will damage one’s confidence and make him or her injured mentally.
I have a friend who has been bullied online by his classmates. He used to make friends in different methods. He sent his photos to many people who may be strangers by just having a short chat. One day, he sent a photo which showed his body to a classmate group. But he did not have feeling. And, his classmates saved it and spread it out. Then he found that his own body photo was sent to the other groups. He knew that his photo was stolen. He didn’t know what to do. The people around him started to make jokes about him and his photo. At last, he told the fact to me. Due to my limited experience, I couldn’t help him but I suggested him to seek help from a teacher. At last, his teacher helped him to settle the cyberbullying issue.
His strange experience gave us an alarm. We should not send something unnecessary online to prevent cyberbullying. However, we don’t know when cyberbullying will come to us. So we must learn how to prevent and handle cyberbullying.
At first, I believe that we shouldn’t sent our own photos online, as it can reduce the risk of facing cyberbullying. We also need to try our best to protect our personal information, including our name, photo, mail account, phone number and so on to prevent cyberbullying. Although those cyberbully can’t be predicted, we can use our behaviour to prevent it.
Then, if the cyberbully really happens, what should we do? Only crying or worrying? Of course not. If we find that our private information has been stolen, we can contact those people who steal our things from us. If he or she can’t answer you, you can complain that the user of certain account is doing something bad for some other accounts. But if you are bullied by your classmates or friends, you can tell him or her that you do mind what she or he is doing. If they don’t understand you or don’t want to set you free, you can discuss this situation with your parents and teachers. Please ask them to five you a hand and help you solve the problems.
Actually, the root of the problem of cyberbullying is that between you and your friend is not strong. You should learn how to make a forever friend and keep long-term relationship. Making more friends can help you improve your social ability instead of making virtual friends online. Therefore, keeping strong friendship is vital for you in order to bring harmony to the world.
Cyberbullying is harmful for people whether for the bully or the victim. Let it go out of our life and to create a peaceful society. Then, we can have a happy life together.
