There are so many fun activities in English at CMA. Whether it is scheduled events like English Week and English Club, or impromptu occasions in the English Room, there's plenty to see and do. On this page you can read about recent events and past year's English Week extravaganzas.
On the 12th and 27th of May students and teachers gathered in the school hall to play games, have fun and win prizes. A good time was had by all and many 'I love English' coupons were given to deserving students.
To celebrate the festival of Halloween students joined Mr. Webb in the English Room to play vocabulary and other games with a Halloween theme. Below are some items and promotional materials from the event.
English Ambassadors assisted with the Environmental Charity Sale to collect, categorise and then sell donated items with all proceeds donated to the Community Chest. At every stage of the process, students embraced the opportunity to practice their English and give back to the community.

To celebrate the upcoming festive season, a small group of students donned Santa and other costumes to participate in an inpromptu Christmas gathering in the English Room. Pizza was provided and everyone enjoyed a delicious and (mostly) healthy lunch.
English Week, as the name suggests, is a week of fun-filled activities to celebrate the learning of English and to promote English across the school. Every day there are different activities with a similar theme. Past years' themes have included a 'Singing Fiesta' and a 'Song Video Making Competition'.
The most important thing about English week is to have FUN. There is something for EVERYONE. There are also lots of 'I love English' coupons that students can redeem for exciting prizes. Each day's activities are posted on noticeboards around the school. You can also listen to the announcements at morning assembly to find out what is happening that day or ask your English teacher.

This year we continued to celebrate English through song, dance and games. In addition to a song-dedication activity in the mini-hall, students gathered in the main hall to play games and win prizes.
The theme of the 2023-24 English Week was a ‘Singing Fiesta’. Everyday at morning recess next to the tuck shop the CMA jukebox played students' favourite English songs and teachers led a singalong. At lunchtime, in the school hall, there was an even bigger event and students listened to, and joined in, the singalong while enjoying their lunch. At both events English teachers gave out I LOVE ENGLISH coupons that students could collect and redeem for prizes

English Week 2022-23 was held 22-30th September. The success of the previous year continued in 2022-23 as students created their music videos to see who could create the most entertaining video of singing in English. The entries this year were even better than the prior year and judges had a very difficult time picking the winners.

English Week 2021-22 was a ‘Music Video Competition’ and held from 1st to 8th October. Students were invited to make a video performing their favourite English song. With the cooperation of the Music and IT departments, students in teams ranging in size from a single performer to the whole class created a multi-media extravaganza showcasing their language, music, IT and creative talents. Teams of students laboured to produce their
Entries were judged on a range of criteria including musical performance, accuracy of the lyrics and originality and creativity of the graphic design of each video. The 6 shortlisted entries were shown to the school in morning assembly class over several days during the Amazing English Week. Students then voted for their favourite entry electronically using Google forms to adhere to social distancing requirements.
The whole school looked forward to morning assembly class throughout the competition, as students and teachers alike viewed successive entries and struggled to decide which one to vote for. The winning teams were rewarded with book vouchers up to a value of $500 while all participants received a $50 book voucher in recognition of their efforts.
