Tour the Art Room

The Supply Shopping Center is where the students are able to go "shopping" for the supplies needed throughout the art class. This way, whenever the students need anything, they know they can find it here. The students also return the supplies here during clean up. This teaches students to be self-reliant and also cuts down on time passing out supplies and leaves more time for making art!

These are our art friends. They help the students learn how to use and to take care of the tools we use in art.

Everyone is an artist in Ms. Saxton's art room if they try to follow our classroom rules.

The color wheel bulletin board helps the students learn color families and relationships. This is an interactive bulletin board where each color can be removed and a place back.

Free time center is where the students go if they finish their art project before the others. This month is free draw but every month there are different free time activity such as "free sculpt", "free weave", "free paint" etc.

The students may also choose a Mystery Box Challenge in the free time center. These are boxes with interesting bits and pieces in them with a challenge to make a specific project using the items supplied in the box.

Every class we have artists of the day as well as words of the day. Here we looked at self-portraits from four different artist and found many interesting clues about their lives and personalities within their self-portraits. We also learned about the meaning of "Foreground" and "Background" in relation to a self-portrait.
