Connecting Outcomes to Impact:Â
Data-Driven Teaching in Canvas
This session examines how Canvas Outcomes can effectively support a mastery-based learning approach by aligning instructional content with state standards and clearly defined learning goals. Participants will explore how traditional grading systems and mastery grading can coexist, offering more targeted data to identify and address specific areas of student need. The session highlights how the Canvas Learning Mastery Gradebook enables educators to monitor progress and make informed, data-driven instructional decisions. Attendees will be guided through the process of adding outcomes to courses, integrating them into rubrics, and leveraging outcome data to support student learning. The strategies shared promote a culture of continuous growth, instructional transparency, and increased student agency.

Presentation links to Canvas Course will only work if you are an employee of Clover School District.
Mastery Grade calculations for Outcomes can be changed at the course level if you want it different from the root (district) level.
Many teachers like to take their standards and make student friendly "I can" statements. These can be inputted into Outcomes at the district level but requires a Canvas Admin to manually input them. Below is a resource and video for how to do this.
