Clover School District offers extensive access to cutting-edge technology. However, we noticed that our new hires often felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of technology they needed to learn, alongside the challenges of starting a new job. To address this, we created Blueflix. Just like Netflix tailors and customizes your viewing experience, Blueflix is designed to personalize professional learning.
Our Innovation Team developed self-paced professional development courses using Canvas. We consolidated these sessions into a course called Blueflix. As new employees join us in the summer, we enroll them in this Canvas course. This approach allows them to familiarize themselves with our district's technology before the school year begins.
Additionally, Blueflix offers learning opportunities for our veteran teachers. Over the years, we have seen a decline in participation in summer technology PD. Blueflix provides a way to continue promoting technology learning for those eager to enhance their skills, without overwhelming them.
Furthermore, our high school has introduced a Google Site-based Mini PD website. Each month, our teachers create brief video presentations on various topics, which are then posted on the website and shared with the staff. This initiative not only fosters leadership among our teachers but also allows them to learn at their convenience, eliminating the need for additional meetings.
Both Blueflix and the CHS Mini PD website have proven to be effective tools. In this session, I will showcase both platforms, discuss how they can be adapted for students or parents, and explain the development process as time allows.
