Green Folder
Your child’s green folder needs to be kept and used all year. The most important thing to remember about this green folder is that your child needs to bring it back & forth between school & home EVERYDAY. The agenda will need to remain inside of this folder daily.
This folder will have in-class activity papers, tests/quizzes, notes to go home, and monthly newsletters.
Inside the folder, you will see a “Return to School” and “Keep at Home” side. Anything on the keep at home side should be cleaned out and kept at home daily. Anything that needs to be returned, please send back the following day.
Third Grade Expectations
Math: Students will complete math assignments in class. Students will be expected to practice math facts at home every night. At the end of each math topic, there will be a test. Students will have materials in advance and will be expected to study at home.
Language Arts: Reading and writing assignments will be completed daily in class. Many of these assignments will be used for instruction and practice, but some will be graded. Students will be expected to read 20 minutes every night.
Spelling: Students will have a new spelling list each week. Students are expected to study their list at home throughout the week for their test.
Science/Social Studies: Students will complete assignments in class. At times, students will occasionally have a project to complete at home and test to prepare for. We will alternate social studies and science units. The rigor of these assessments will require additional efforts to study at home each night during the unit.
As a partner in your child's education, please check your child's take-home folder every night for important papers and their planner every night for assignments. Please review any work that your child may have struggled with during the week. Please sign their planner every night.
